The M2 line serves 15 stations between Yenikapı and Hacıosman. M2 is the main metro backbone running north–south across İstanbul’s European side. It runs from Yenikapı through Vezneciler, Şişhane, and Taksim to the Şişli, Levent, and Maslak business districts, then on to Hacıosman. Taksim, Şişhane, Şişli-Mecidiyeköy, Gayrettepe, and Levent are major transfer points.
