Where the data comes from
Every figure on this site has a source and a date. Here they are, with the correction log.
What comes from where
| Data | Source | Checked |
|---|---|---|
| Fares and passes | Metro İstanbul — Ücret Tarifeleri (tariff of 20 July 2026) | 27 August 2026 |
| Station-by-station passenger counts | İBB Open Data Portal — 2025 dataset (updated 3 February 2026) | 27 August 2026 |
| Lines, stations and interchanges | Metro İstanbul line pages and the official network map | 27 August 2026 |
| Service hours | Operating hours published by Metro İstanbul | 27 August 2026 |
| Network map (PNG and PDF) | Metro İstanbul A.Ş. / İBB | 27 August 2026 |
Why there is no "real time" here
Because no open source provides it. The GTFS dataset on İBB’s open data portal has not had its resources updated since March 2024, and its calendar file ends on 31 December 2024. We published frequencies derived from it for a while; publishing headways computed from an expired dataset is not defensible, so that section was switched off. No real-time feed (GTFS-RT or otherwise) is public for İstanbul.
Correction log
27 August 2026 — fares updated to the 20 July 2026 tariff
The site was publishing the February 2026 tariff. The İBB Council approved a 10% rise on 17 July 2026, effective 20 July: full fare ₺42.00 → ₺46.20, student ₺20.50 → ₺22.55, Mavi Kart ₺3,298 → ₺3,628. The fares page also gained the social (₺33.08) and over-30 student (₺41.58) categories.
27 August 2026 — transfer amounts now carry their date
İBB did not republish the per-transfer amounts with the July rise. The old ones (₺31.27 / ₺24.02 / ₺15.62) were removed from station and line pages and now appear on the fares page labelled February 2026 tariff.
27 August 2026 — station pages got real figures
The 158 station pages were near-identical: five of their eight blocks were word-for-word the same everywhere. "Surface transport" and "Station facilities" were removed and replaced by each station's own numbers from İBB's 2025 count; the block listing every station on the line became the neighbouring stops.
